Benefits of The Children's Home Society of West Virginia

The following benefits are for employees who are hired or moved into a full-time or part-time position.  Temporary workers (hourly paid) do not qualify for the following benefits.

Health Insurance

Covered by Coventry Carelink.  Part-time employees must work 75% of a full-time schedule (30 hours or more per week).  Must enroll at time of hire - or within 30 days of hire - after 30 day qualifying period - coverage begins on first of month following 30 day qualifying period.  Premiums split 75% (Agency) - 25% (employee).  Schedules of total monthly premiums; effective October 1, 2011:

Life Insurance/Disability

Covered by Security Life Insurance Comapnay - Part-time employees must work 75% of a full-time schedule (30 hours or more per week).  Must enroll at time of hire - or within 30 days of hire - after 30 day qualifying period - coverage begins on first of month following 30 day qualifying period. Life Insurance coverage is equal to one year’s annual salary.   Disability coverage could be 60% of monthly salary up to retirement age.  Complete details are available through the plan summary.  Premiums entirely paid by Society.

Extended Sick Leave (ESL)

All regular employees earn up to .5 day per month if full work schedule is met. Part-time positions are pro-rated based on percentage of schedule.

May only be accessed for serious illness of employee, and after satisfying 5 qualifying days of absence must request and submit physician's documentation in writing.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

All full-time and part-time employees earn Paid Time Off for every full month worked.  This time is used for any days requested in place of vacation, illness, or holidays.

The following benefits are given to all employees, regardless of status:

Agency Pension Profit-Sharing Program

After one year service with CHS of WV, attaining age 21 and having worked at least 1,000 hours in that year, an employee qualifies for the profit-sharing plan.  After verifying qualifications, employee receives enrollment package for entry on the first of the month of the following quarter (January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1).  A contribution from the Society will be made on a monthly basis at a rate announced by the Society.  Current rate (10/1/11) is 6% of wages paid.  Vests 20% per year - takes total of 5 years of participation for 100% vesting.  Can withdraw after year in which employment ends.

Tax-Sheltered Annuity - Of CHS of WV - (TSA)
All employees may join at the beginning of any quarter - may withhold 2% up to 20% of gross income - investments directed by employee.  Loan provisions.  Can only close account after termination.

Voluntary Benefits
Ranging from medical to dental and others, all employees qualify after 30 days of employment. Employees select and pay premiums of chosen benefits. Deductions qualify for Section 125 provision.
