A Client's Story:

Guy, a very shy five-year old with disabled parents, needed several visits with his first WE CAN Volunteer before he was comfortable going on an outing with her. Two years later, Guy and his current mentor spend 10 to 15 hours a month together. Because Guy is gifted in art and loves to read, many of their activities are geared around the library and art projects. Guy's mentor helped him get his library card and make and decorate a special box to keep the books in at home so they won't get dirty or lost. He's learned the importance of keeping up with - and returning - something borrowed.

During the year, 346 children benefited from 8,267 hours of volunteer time from 125 volunteers.
