Children's Home Society receives hague accreditation!
West Virginia— Families looking to adopt abroad need look no further than The Children’s Home Society of West Virginia for reliable and accredited support services. The statewide organization has officially achieved Hague Accreditation through the Council on Accreditation (COA) attesting that The Society provides safe and secure adoption services in respect to international adoption. The Children’s Home Society of West Virginia is the only West Virginia-based agency to achieve this status. The Hague Convention reassures potential parents pursuing intercountry adoptions through our agency that we are completing adoptions in the best interests of children and adhering to policies and ures to prevent abuses to children,” noted Julia Kesler, a Children’s Home Society adoption social worker. “Agencies who do not meet Hague standards to protect families and children from abduction, exploitation, sale or trafficking of children will no longer be permitted to complete adoptions in countries that are part of the Hague Convention.
The Society works in conjunction with other Hague Accredited agencies that provide outreach to vulnerable children in countries from which their families adopt. Attaining this accreditation was a lot of hard work, but it’s what children and families deserve.” The accreditation could not have come at a better time for James and Laurie Hill, of Spencer, WV. They are eagerly awaiting their journey to China where they will legally adopt and bring home a baby boy. “Our journey has been an uphill climb, to say the least. Originally we weren’t looking outside the U.S. for adoption until a lot of devastating blows came our way…working with other agencies led to discouraging nds,” explains Laurie, the soon-to-be mom. “Julia has been invaluable for us. She’s become our friend through this process. I absolutely recommend the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia to any family in a situation like ours. After the struggles we’ve faced, it is such a blessing to work with an organization that we know [first hand] works for the best interest of the children and families involved.” They arrived at Yeager Airport with their son on July 17 th.
